This edition of the industry track marks the changing of the track. Traditionally, the SBGames industry trail was marked by panels and discussions on management, business, and public policy with the participation of professionals, entrepreneurs and public administrators. In 2012, in addition to the panels it has three invited papers and IGDA discussion panels; it also initiated a partnership with the Journal of Business Administration (RAE, published by FGV-EAESP). The keynote Track industry in 2013 is Prof.. Jonathan Sapsed (CENTRIM / University of Brighton) with the lecture is "Video games industry research: Why Should academics, developers, and policy makers do it?", presenting his experience of 10 years of research on the games industry. This year, the track industry is distributed in four parts: the Academic, the Forum Abragames-IGDA, the ExpoSBGames and Postmortem.
- The Academic part receives scientific articles related to digital games and simulations in the areas of Information Management, Public Administration, Organizational Studies, Organizational Strategy, Finance, Management Science, Technology and Innovation, Operations Management and Logistics, Personnel Management and Labour Relations and Marketing. It was formed a body of referees with 27 members. 29 abstracts submitted, of which 19 full papers submitted and 11 approved for publication after the 3 referees for blind review system. These 11 items were divided into four tables: Organizations (3 articles), Public Policy (2 articles), Marketing and Sales (3 items) and Operations and Production (3 articles). The coordinators of this edition are Luiz Ojima Sakuda (USP and EIF) and Marsal Avila Alves Branco (Feevale University and Abragames).
- The IGDA/Abragames Forum consolidates the partnership of these two institutions with SBGames, organizing thematic roundtable discussions covering important aspects of the market, production arrangements and management processes that characterize the gaming industry. The tables are intended to foster discussion forums and stimulate the exchange of information between managers, producers, government, associations and other actors working on the chain of digital games. This edition has 11 panel discussions, 46 speakers and moderators. The coordinators of this edition are Marsal Avila Alves Branco (Feevale and Abragames) and Arthur Protasio (FGV-RJ and IGDA-RJ).
- The ExpoSBGames is an area open to the public that aims to bring together developers and national and international publishers to showcase their games to the community, as well as suppliers of development tools, equipment, support and education institutions, professional services and other players of industry. This edition features the Sebrae Stage, the Intel booth (sponsor), area of games and Gamestations Festival. The Sebrae Stage has 19 items of programming including lectures and discussion panels, and Sebrae consultors are available to support the development of business models of companies for free. The coordinators of this edition are Juliano Alves (Intel) and Luiz Ojima Sakuda (USP and EIF).
- 4. The Postmortem is a novelty in SBGames. Postmortem is the name given to an autopsy, but in the games industry the term is used refering the developer analyses about what happened during development, discussing what went right and wrong. This format is very important for the industry, and was not yet contemplated by the tracks or by academic and discussion boards. In this first edition, the two exhibitors are invited. The coordinators of this edition are Bruno de Paula Campagnolo (LST, Curitiba and TECPAR IGDA), Erick Passos (IFPI and MIT) and Luiz Ojima Sakuda (USP and EIF).
