: SBGAMES 2010 - Welcome! :



The SBGames is the most important event for development and research of computer games and digital entertainment in Latin America. It is attended by scientists, artists, designers, teachers and students from colleges, research centers and from the game industry. SBGames is the symposium of the Special Committee of games and Digital entertainment of SBC (Brazilian Computer Society), which is also supported by RBV (Rede Brasileira de Tecnologia de Visualização)

The Symposium started in 2002 named Wjogos, with a focus on computing. Since its introduction, it has been taking place annually, widening its scope to include art, design and industry-related subjects.

On its current form, SBGames is composed of four tracks (Computing, Art & Design, Industry, Games & Culture), two festivals (Indie Games Festival and Art Exhibition) and tutorials. The Games & Culture track was introduced on the most recent edition.

The Computing and Art & Design tracks showcase papers, posters and tutorials, while the Industry track offers seminary panels. The Indie Games Festival presents functional game prototypes on an informal session dedicated to innovation, technique, imagination and emergent newcoming talent. The Art Exhibition presents game concepts, storyboards, experimental game concepts and electronic game art, in a variety of media formats.

The ninth edition will be held at Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, at the Bristol Castelmar Hotel, from 08 to 10 in November 2010 and will discuss the following theme: Games in the network. Following the world tendency in the subject, it's intended to think over the relations between thes games and the social networks, as well as the different tribes that appear in the network influenced by the games. The relations of this action with the market and the industry, and how the industry shapes itself to answer the tendencies.
